Opening in September 2007, Mama Ganoush quickly garnered the acclaim that seems to follow any venture where there’s a Malouf in the mix. Owner Geoff Malouf has created a moody Moroccan enclave at the boho end of Chapel Street in Windsor, which has the look and feel of New York meets Casablanca. Softly illuminated walls, warm colours, weighted cutlery and crockery and crisp white linen napkins add a touch of luxe. But the food here is the absolute star.

Like any great Mama, this one takes special care of her family; produce is only sourced from  Melbourne’s best suppliers. Authentic Middle-Eastern flavours are created in dishes spanning Turkey to Morocco, and each has a modern edge. Deft wait staff can help navigate a menu best shared, allowing diners in any sized group to enjoy a range of dishes without fearing a gluttonous overload. A thoughtful and well-priced wine selection adds to the delightful culinary experience.

Mama also loves to entertain larger groups. A private upstairs dining room can accommodate groups from 20 to 40 people. With tailored menus ranging from $55 to $100 per person (including drinks), upstairs at Mama Ganoush is an excellent option for celebrations.
